The International Olympic Committee

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the most important organization related to the international Olympic movement, which was founded on June 23, 1984 on the initiative of Baron Pierre de Coubertin.

The IOC is an international association, which has an international legal personality and currently brings together 205 national federations. The most important document, which forms the basis for the activities of the IOC and the entire Olympic movement, is the Olympic Charter.

The main task of the IOC is the organization of summer and winter Olympic Games, held alternately every two years.

The IOC has its seat in Lausanne in Switzerland.
